Fact of the Week

Fact of the Week: Who Was the First Female Actor? Margaret Hughes may have been the first professional actress in England. The occasion of her first performance was on 8 December 1660, in a production of Shakespeare's play Othello, when she played the role of Desdemona in a production by Thomas Killigrew's new King's Company at their Vere Street theatre. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Hughes

Bike Parade 2010

Every year our church has a bike parade. It is really cute because the kids get to decorate their bikes, then ride them IN THE STREET (the ultimate in coolness!). This year, they were led by horses! Topher is usually the one who is gung ho for this and Tim not so much. They surprised me again this year by switching roles.
Here they are passing our house. I love that they pass our house every year!
What a spectacle!
Here is Tim bringing up the rear. It took him a while before he would "mingle" with the rest of the bikers.
After the parade, we detoured to the school for popsicles and horse rides. Tim wasn't too interested in the horse, so I went back home to see if Topher wanted to ride.
Um, yeah, he did. He had a great time too. They must have eaten 5 popsicles a piece. My boys love those treats! It was a cute day and I am glad they have it every year. Thank you, Debbie!!

Bingham Canyon Copper Mine

Fun activity week two was a trip to the Kennecott Copper Mine. It has been a while since we have visited this place. If it is possible, it is even bigger. It is the only manmade structure (other than the Great Wall of China) that can be seen by astronauts orbiting the Earth. Here is one of the wheels from the dumptrucks they use. Huge!!!

Alee and Boston came with us. We had to take two pics!! If you look close, it is a funny face pic.

Here is an action shot. All of them are looking into the mine cart at all of the cool rocks!

Here is one of the superhuge dump trucks. My camera is on the fullest zoom.

Here is a look at the side of the mine. It stretches on and on and on.....

My camera is on the widest angle I have and I still couldn't fit the mine all the way in. Pay attention to the left side of the pic. About three fourths of the way up you can barely make out a building on the side. It is the crusher factory (my name for it.)Here it is on full zoom. Check that out!

Here is a toy replica of the same factory in the visitor's center.

Boston found the trucks! His favorite!

He wanted a hug from Topher. It is so funny because Topher isn't used to having one littler than him, we kind of had to tell him what to do.

Dogpile!!!

They got free buttons from the visitor center.

After the mine, we had a picnic in the park, then came back home for some swimming time!

This is a cute pic!

We had a great time! Thanks to Alee and Boston for joining us!

Happy Father's Day!!!

Okay, so these first pics are for Kathy because I am sure this is what Terry looked like when he was a kid about to do something dasturdly. Notice the look of sheer joy on his face. Why you ask?
Because we put the pool up on Saturday and he thinks he HAS to christen it by putting the dogs in. Yep, just look at the triumph in that grin! Well, I guess I know how to get him to smile for pics, let him torture small animals.
The sad thing is that Dusty knows him by now and she knew what she was in store for. For the record, I don't think they liked it. Dave and Lisa, think back to Diamond Fork and remember what she did when he threw her in the river.
Now you may think we are evil because we are making him cook on his day. Au contraire, Terry loves to cook (as most of you know). We did make him french toast for breakfast, but he ended up taking over after he ate his and serving the boys.
Hallelujah, the swimming pool is cleaned out and ready to go. I won't even begin to mention how GROSS it was to clean out. We have GOT to work on a better system for next year!
Topher, forever my ham. Not quite sure what he's doing right here. On second thought, maybe I DON'T want to know.
Daddy made super cool swords for the boys that day too. Then, of course, I decorated them. Got to look ultimately cool!
Terry's present was a shirt for everyone that looked like this.........

I got Alex and Brendon one that looked like this.........

They were spending the weekend with their dad on a camping trip.
This is a cute little family photo on the way to see my dad. Happy Father's day to Terry, Jay, Steven, and Clyde. Special Happy Father's Day to our other grandpas who have passed on. We miss you!!!

RIP Jimmy

I don't have any photos of you, I am a bad grandma. You were such a good pet - smart, gentle, and loving. Anyone who says there isn't a heaven for animals is sorely mistaken. I dubbed you Lazerus - your tenacity was astonishing. I am glad you aren't suffering anymore. Thank you for being such a good pet to Brendon and the whole family. We put you next to Rikki so you wouldn't get lonely. Have a good time in rat heaven, until we meet again! Love; Brendon, Tim, Topher, Alex, Jaylene, and Terry.

Petting Zoo at Gardner Village

This summer is the first summer I haven't done daycare. Kinda strange! Anyway, the boys and I decided that this year that we would plan it out. First of all, we got the pool up this weekend, pics to come later. We also decided we would go on a "field trip" once a week. Last week was their first week off so we decided to go pet the animals at Gardner Village's Petting Zoo.
All of the animals are very friendly.
Lots to choose from as well. Goats and ponies.
Chickens and bunnies.
This goat was funny! He became my buddy. He followed me all over the zoo, and when I would stop, he would come and rest his head next to my waist. "Pet me!"
This one we dubbed "Terry". Look at the goatee, just like daddy's!
This llama is hilarious, although he doesn't look really amused! There were also emus and ducks.
This pig kept going up to the rocks and doing the "bear scratch". It was pretty funny!
These two baby goats were walking and Tim reached down to scratch their heads. It was funny because they both stopped like, "ahhhhhhh".
There was also a sheep there as well.
No trip to Gardner Village would be complete without a trip to Sweet Afton's! The boys got their favorite taffy and I snuck away with some chocolate orange sticks. Yummy! I also have discovered how to use my timer on my camera! It was a fun day!
p.s. Oh yeah, it is summer so PLEASE, don't forget to put on the sunscreen like I did. We were pretty crunchy later that night!!!

Look at poor Topher and his little chicken legs! Freezing!
Nice sunset. Unfortunately Terry took my old camera and it didn't focus too well.

Washoe!!!
Now that a fire!
Straight from Journey's world tour.....Dave Steve Perry!!!!!
He may look innocent, but he is plotting something dasturdly!!!!

Now that is comfort! They had a great time, can't wait til next year!!!!
