Fact of the Week

Fact of the Week: Who Was the First Female Actor? Margaret Hughes may have been the first professional actress in England. The occasion of her first performance was on 8 December 1660, in a production of Shakespeare's play Othello, when she played the role of Desdemona in a production by Thomas Killigrew's new King's Company at their Vere Street theatre. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Hughes

Utah State Fair 2010

On Friday, we decided to hit the Utah State Fair. We hadn't been for a while. Topher couldn't remember what it was like because it had been so long. Now I know why. I think we spent their college fund that night!
There were all of these little wooden picture stands. I thought they were cute. Tim did not.
Topher had a blast looking at all of the animals.
Then.....they discovered the rides! It was all over from there!

We stopped for a moment at this seal show.
Not quite sure what she was trying to accomplish with them. All she kept doing was making this one back up. I guess he was being "naughty".
The director of the food program where I work has a son named Joey. He entered and origami piece and won first place! Congrats Joey!!!!
The Navy SEALs parachuted in over the rides. It was hard to catch them because they were sorta far away and moving fast!
Back for more rides!!!!!

AND of course..... THE BIG SLIDE!!!!!!
By then, the Turners had made it to the fair, so we hooked up with them. This is Bryce petting the goats. This goat was so funny. He started eating Bryce's stroller. Bryce was all "No goat!"
So he decided to eat Lisa's shorts instead. Didn't touch the fries that were on the tray, what does that tell you?????
Then we wandered over to the cows and there was a newborn calf that everyone was molesting. Do they have therapy for cows????
After that, Terry said game over, so we left the Turners to explore the rest of the fair and headed home. It was a fun day and our feet HURT by the time we got home. What I think is funny is that I saw all of these women walking around in their hoochie mamma shoes. I wore my workout shoes to walk around in and my feet hurt, I can't imagine how theirs felt. Gotta look good!!! So I think next year in order to be able to afford the fair, we will have to rob the treasury of a small country!!!!

Alex, Allee and Boston go to Bear Lake

Alex, as many of you know, has had some down time from touring (not really the way most of us would want it!) He and Allee went with her family to Bear Lake over the Labor Day holiday. They sent me some pictures.
Future skipper!!!
Ahhhhh, life is good!!!!
I LOVE this picture. It is so cute! They had a great time. Alex gets his "headgear" off on Thursday. I know he can't wait!!!!

Crazy Hair Day!

Here it is...the spirit day you've been waiting for! Topher's favorite.....CRAZY HAIR DAY!!!!!
As you can see we have added the color electric blue to the model's right side and the color brilliant red to the left side. We have finished this fine ensemble off with a perfect faux hawk down the middle. Definitely the "in" look for this season.
I asked Tim if he wanted crazy hair too. I believe "Hell no" would have been his response, were he allowed to swear!!!

Topher Gets Climbing Higher for 2nd Grade

Topher got his climbing higher award for second grade last week. He was so excited because this is the earliest he has ever received it!
Now when it says being a good helper to his table, it means he keeps them in line. Like he used to keep the daycare kids in line. When I (or teacher in this case) issue commands, everybody better snap too, or they have to answer to Topher!!!
Funny how the littlest kid would be the one bossing everyone around! Seriously, Topher strives to do what he is supposed to and be the best he can be. I am glad his teacher recognized him for that!
Here he is getting his award with the principal.
Here is the rest of the gang. Congratulations, well done!!!!!!

No Training Wheels!!!!

Topher has been walking with me to the crossing in the morning. Well, I have been walking, he has been riding. He still had training wheels on his bike. He usually has to leave before I do, or he will be late. I watch him ride up the hill to school. One day, some kids made fun of him on the way to school because he still had trainers on his bike. That was it, he wouldn't ride his bike to school anymore. When I finally found out the reason, I told him daddy would take off his trainers and he could practice without them. Show those damn kids!! I figured it wouldn't take him very long, but all I did was give him a send off and that was it! He started riding! I wish everything I had to teach my kids only took 5 seconds!
Now he can ride his bike to school like all of the "big kids". He has such a fiery temper, I am surprised he didn't pull those kids off of their "trainerless" bikes and beat the living &*^% out of them! Don't mess with little packages! Looks can be deceiving!

Grandma Turns 80!

My beautiful grandma celebrated a milestone for her birthday this year. 80 years old! but I don't think she looks and acts a day over 60! I stole this pic from my sister. Here she is with her cake. It was yummy too!
We all went to lunch at Golden Corral. Then we took some family shots. Here is my mom with my grandparents.
Here is Rachelle and her little family (Ryan and Trey)
Here is Jason. His little family was out of town. Sure wish they could have been there! (Missing Courtney, Madison and Kennedy)
Here is Ryan's "little" family. (front row: Peyton, Raylor, Xander, Kenyon, back row: Rebecca, Ryan, Natalie, and Dextor)
My little family, together for a rare appearance! (front row: Tim, me, Topher, and Alex. Back row: Brendon and Terry)
We had a great time. It is getting harder and harder to get together because we are getting so big and our schedules are getting so crazy. It is nice when we can manage it. Happy Birthday, Grandma!
