Fact of the Week

Fact of the Week: Who Was the First Female Actor? Margaret Hughes may have been the first professional actress in England. The occasion of her first performance was on 8 December 1660, in a production of Shakespeare's play Othello, when she played the role of Desdemona in a production by Thomas Killigrew's new King's Company at their Vere Street theatre. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Hughes

Camping Over the Fourth of July 2011

We went camping with "da gang" to Utah Lake over the 4th of July weekend. Certainly one of our best yet I must say! It was pretty hot, but we didn't let that get us down. Lisa brought the slip and slide for the kids.....BUT the adults couldn't let them have all of the fun, now could we????Terry took one of the firewood containers and turned it into a swimming pool! The kids didn't like the slip and slide on the "thorny" hill, so we moved it to a better location. It was WELL USED the whole weekend!!!Later on, we had a MAJOR water fight. I mean everyone got SOAKED. It felt so good! I think the adults won that one!!!!So then it gets even better! After a wonderful day of boating/swimming on Saturday, we came back and had a luau! It started with everyone getting leid (hahahaha) and yummy frozen drinks, courtesy of the Brentels. Here are da guys looking all studly in their luau attire! Life is good, right?Of course Topher has to ham it up! I got Terry to smile though!THESE TWO are the hams!Mr. Aaron!Bryceman with his cool drink!Topher with his!Shy Tim with his! Thanks to Dave, Lisa, Aaron and Keesha for all of the cute "accessories and drink cups!"Okay, like I said....hams! Check out Dave's get up. Too funny!!!! He even brought out the IPad and put it on Don Ho radio on Pandora!HAD to take the self portrait! Here is Bryce in his grass skirt! This is one of the only pics I got of Heidi! She is a shy one too!!! I'll get you Heidi, one day! Love this photo the best! Da group! Not all of the kids are in it. They were too busy playing! Loved the menu for the luau - Khalua pork, grilled pineapple, Hawaiian sweet bread, cabbage salad and Keesha brought a coconut cake from Kneaders that was TO DIE FOR!!! We had a blast! Like I said, one of our best ever! Missed those that couldn't come. Until next time! xxoo

Tim's "Country" The Black Cobras

Forgot to blog about Tim's end of school project! They had to create their own country. So team members Tim, Michael, and Caeser decided their country would be called....The Black Cobras. Here is their flag....(Tim drew it by the way!)Here is their country. Notice the volcano in the middle of the river. It rolls downhill into the village. Here they are presenting their country to the class. They had to tell what their national sport, farming, animals, history, hero, enemy, and the most important...food!!! Here is quesadilla, a sweet bread that is usually drank with coffee. And, of course, chili verde. Terry made his famous chili verde so Tim could share it with his class. Yeah, there wasn't ANY left! It turned out great! They did a great job and it was a good time to watch. Go Black Cobras!
