Fact of the Week

Fact of the Week: Who Was the First Female Actor? Margaret Hughes may have been the first professional actress in England. The occasion of her first performance was on 8 December 1660, in a production of Shakespeare's play Othello, when she played the role of Desdemona in a production by Thomas Killigrew's new King's Company at their Vere Street theatre. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Hughes

Valentine Parties at School

Valentine Class party day! Thanks to all of my helpers! We'll start with Topher's class. Here is the craft table. Thank you Daylene!
Here is the "frost a cookie" table. Thank you Leila!
Here is the one of the game sites. Thanks Randy!
Here is the other game site. Thanks Amanda!
Here is Topher showing off all of his goodies. He has the best teacher in the whole world! Thanks Mrs. Beckstead!
On to Tim's class. His class is old enough that when I plan a party, I always go in and ask them what they want to do. This year, they decided to hold a Valentine box contest.
I told the kids to vote for one boy and one girl.
First place boys: Cameron!
Second place boys: Gavin! Notice the guitar theme. Some honorable mentions - an ipod, a rocket, and an egg.
First place girls was a tie between Emma
and Amber!
Then two other moms came in to help as well. One brought in a popsicle stick airplane to make (thanks Melanie!) and the other had a game where you stacked as many convesation hearts as you could in a given amount of time. We narrowed them down with several different rounds until we had a winner. Thanks Cassidy!
Here is Tim's. Bet you can't guess what the theme for his box was! We had a great time and everything went quite smoothly!

Boy, can kids move! I put my camera on indoor sports, and I still didn't catch it all!
Yummy!
Love my mommie!!!
He is so a boy, check this out!

Flowers From Grandma's Grave

There's no time for us
There's no place for us
What is this thing that builds our dreams yet slips away
From us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever....?

There's no chance for us
Its all decided for us
This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us

Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?

Who dares to love forever?
When love must die

But touch my tears with your lips
Touch my world with your fingertips
And we can have forever
And we can love forever
Forever is our today
Who wants to live forever
Who wants to live forever?
Forever is our today

Who waits forever anyway?

Farewell, Grandma!

My ten favorite things I remember about my grandma.
10. Popcorn. She loved popcorn. We always had it when we watched T.V. or a movie at her house.
9. Good hamburgers. She made the BEST hamburgers. They were hoagie style, not round.
8. Democrat! She made me the Democrat I am today! Thanks Grandma!!!
7. Lawrence Welk. When she used to babysit us, we always got to watch Lawrence Welk (with popcorn of course!)
6. Pomegranates. She introduced me to this interesting fruit
5. The Lamenite Generation and Roger Whitaker. When we used to go to her house, we would make her put on "The Big Mouth Frog" song and anything by Roger Whitaker. Then we would dance to it, but you had to be careful and not jump around or you would make the record skip!
4. Crazy driver. She used to back out of her driveway going about 60. I won't even mention what she did AFTER she got out of her driveway!!!

3. Real butter. Her kitchen always smelled like real butter.
2. Candy peanuts. She loved those things! (gross!)
And the number one thing I remember most about my Grandma is her red hair. I'm going to miss you a ton! Rest in Peace, Grandma! Farewell til we meet again! Love Jaylene

Wendover!!

Oh boy! A Wendover trip is always fun! Especially with lots of fun people. Terry and I dropped off the kiddies (thanks Peama and Grandpa Steve!), Brendon was celebrating his sweet 16 with his dad that weekend, and we were off. We met at Neil and Donielles to have a couple of "pre ride" cocktails. Then here comes the motor home! As you can see everyone has had some "pre ride" cocktails too! (Except for Gramps of course, who very graciously volunteered to be the DD). Mom made Terry sit in the co-pilots chair to keep Gramps on his toes. Here is Tammy sitting next to him.

Here are the rest of the crew. Ready to go!!!

We even had a mascot!

Almost there, I see the tree! This was taken out the motorhome window going pretty fast. What a sweet camera I have!!!

Okay, made it to the hotel. Now we are all parked in Gramps and Mom's room for some "pre dinner" cocktails. Or maybe it was "pre-winner" cocktails. Take your pick!

Neil and Donielle

Tammy and Buck

Gramps (Jim)

Neil's niece Brandy and her husband Richard

Neil's other niece (and Brandy's sister) April with Mom (Barb)

Terry just HAD to pick his nose for me.

Okay, let's go play! Can't walk Mom? No problem! We'll just push you down to the casino on the luggage cart! It was a great time and I had a blast. Thanks guys for inviting us, we'll have to do it again really soon. Oh, by the way, Happy Birthday Mom!

My Creative Sister

Dear blog reader, while I am not usually one to toot my own horn, you must go to my sister's blog and see her creativity. WARNING! Pics are of me at my most dorkiest (which I guess is business as usual, so maybe there should be no warning) but as those that know me have come to realize......to know me is to love me, even though they will possibly need years of therapy because of it!!!

Girl's Night Out

Wow, girl's night out February was so much fun! So relaxing. It probably didn't help that we were celebrating my birthday too! We drank some wine.......

Ate some chocolate covered strawberries and raspberries (Thanks Bev!)

Took goofy pics (I look really washed out! Must have been a great party!)

Heidi, bestest "birthday girl glass" present ever!

Bev, love the kissy lip gloss and I LOVE your hot tub hair!

Lisa bestest photo frame ever! Wow, we have good taste, don't we!!!

Cheryl! Kept feeding me drinks all night! She is the reason I got PLOWED!!!! Thanks sweetie Take a look at that spread! What a lucky girl I am. P.s. Wore the marquis necklace this weekend to represent my hopes that the Saints would win the SuperBowl! It is hard to see, but it is on the front of the picture frame.

Here is the group photo. Andrea, you are banished from missing a girl's night out again, simply for the fact that we CAN'T take a picture (but we missed you lots and lots!). Lisa did her best, in fact, she is the reason it turned out half way decent at all.
And now for the mystery of the evening! I'll let you guess what this is!!!
It was the best evening ever! Thanks you gals for making it so wonderful. Had a great time and I can't wait for the next one!
