Quote of the Week

An ideal wife is any woman who has an ideal husband. -Booth Tarkington

Fact of the Week

Fact of the Week: How long do astronauts stay in quarantine? Apollo 11, 12, and 14 Astronauts from these missions were quarantined for 21 days after returning from the moon, beginning when the lunar lander's hatch closed on July 21, 1969. The quarantine was a precaution in case the astronauts had been exposed to dangerous lunar microorganisms.

Terry's Scary Wound!

Back in June of 2022, Terry's bursa sack burst. This has happened before, and he usually gets an antibiotic and everything is all good. This time, it was a newer doctor and I don't think he realized how bad this can be and didn't prescribe a strong enough antibiotic so.......it burst OUTWARD like a blister. Well, that is all fine and dandy, but it wouldn't heal, and Terry had a little hole in his leg. Finally in September, he went in and it was determined that he needed surgery to clean it out. (Turns out he is REALLY lucky because our best friend Brett had a sore on his elbow that wouldn't heal, and it ended up killing him. That is a different post). A few weeks after the surgery, it started swelling up again. The infection had returned. He had to have surgery AGAIN, and this time a wound vac was added.
This is right after the second surgery...
It became a presence, so we named it Kwato from the movie Total Recall...
This is what it looked like at the first dressing change. It was brutal because the surgeon STUFFED the sponge WAY down in, and it was really hard to get out. Yes, you can see his tibia.....

Here it is a couple of weeks later. It is starting to grow tissue..

This was around mid January when Kwato finally came off. It is amazing to me that the body knew when to make new capillaries and when to make the skin. SO cool!

Even better!

This picture was taken at work, and the neon light makes it look bad again!

This is how it looked on the day that the wound care service discharged him.

This was SO scary, especially because Brett died of complications that arose from a scratch on his elbow that didn't heal.

Post from the Past - Easter 2021

Dave and Lisa hosted an Easter party. They set up an egg hunt in the back. Here are the kiddies counting their loot. (Back: Terry and Brynley. Middle: Paxton and Tate. Front: Everett and Maddie)
Here they are for a posed picture with their loot. (Paxton, Brynley, Tate, Dawson, Maddie, and Everett)

I HAD to get my babies chocolate bunnies, even if they aren't babies anymore!
Topher with his bunny....
..and Tim with his...
As is tradition, I bought an Easter Lily...

Lady got a new chair. I think she likes it...
Gizmo getting luvs from Daddy...
I forgot to take a picture of myself, so Monday, I took a selfie at work.

We had a great Easter 2021, I hope you did too!

Becoming Buddies 2022

It has taken a while, but I think they are starting to get used to each other. Lady is more standoffish than Gizmo is. He was ready to be friendly WAY before now.

I thought this photo was funny because she is all melted into the sheepskin. Gosh it's hard to be a dog at the Morley house....

Christmas 2022

Terry and I have had a trying year. This is the year that my knees swelled up in February (amongst other things), and I got diagnosed with Lyme in November. His bursa sack burst outward in June, and then it didn't heal, so he had to have two surgeries, and then a wound vac because it STILL wouldn't heal. We still have an AWESOME Christmas! Here are Peama's famous caramels and pretzel/Rollo treats. She also gave us some dolla$. I don't know what we would do without her! My mom and grandma also gave us some cash. Don't know what we would do without them either <3
Alex gave me a bracelet that says "Love you Mom" in morse code. Morse code bracelets are all the rage right now. I will never take it off!
This is the box in which it came.
He also gave me a planet globe that turns different colors. I have used it in the bath, and also on weekend mornings for the BEST ambiance!

I didn't get any pictures of the kids! I am FIRED! This is a picture that Lyndie posted for Christmas, so I stole it.
They knew we were saving up for a Kitchenaid mixer, so they gave us their extra one, and gave us an Amazon gift card to buy the pasta attachment!
Terry bought the cover for it before we even received it!

Tim and Ashley gave me a Spock T-Shirt! Don't they know me!
Topher knows I like scents, so he got me this really cool cascade incense burner. I have been thinking of getting one of these, so now I don't have to. It is very soothing to watch....

Terry and I had decided since we were low on funds because of his injury, that we wouldn't get each other any presents. Turkey still ended up getting me stuff! 4 shirts, and a bunch of wishes I had saved on my Amazon list. What am I going to do with him??? We had a great Christmas, and I am mostly thankful for my family. That is all I need <3

Post from the Past - 50th Birthday Family Style

I had a family birthday party for my 50th as well. Here is the card my mom gave me. It had some monies in it! She also gave me a stuffed bear to keep all of my 50th birthday props on.

This is the card that Peama gave me. It had some green stuff in it!

Bren and Lyndie gave me this card.

They also gave me some coffee....
cups, and wine accessories. Boy do they know me or what...
Because it was Brendon and Lyndie's birthday month as well, I bought them their favorite cake....rainbow sprinkles! (They also got a good chunk of change)

This is the birthday cake we got for everyone else to share.
I was trying to take selfies with everyone, because I always take the pictures and I am not in them. Terry runs from them too. Here I am trying to get him to look up and smile.

Selfies with Alex!

Selfies with Grandma Betty!

Mom came....
...as well as Peama....

Here are the other two birthday people!
Dave and Lisa got some balloons for me for the friends party. I took them home and put them up. They lasted a LONG time!

It was a GREAT birthday, although I don't know if I still like the idea of being a half a century old! But.....I think the alternative is worse!
