A Much Needed Night Out

Okay, so this post should have been about going to the Grames Family Reunion. Unfortunately the night before, Topher got sick and was up all night, therefore Mom was up all night as well taking care of him and playing with the insomnia fairy. Needless to say, after only two hours of sleep, I wasn't to well equiped to drive to East Carbon for the reunion (sorry my family!). Thankfully, we were able to get some rest during the day and didn't feel too bad later that evening. Our neighbors, the Brannons, called and asked if we would like the extra tickets they had to go to a Bees game. So we said, "Okay!Here is Tim with Bumble, the mascot. I couldn't get Toph to get in the picture, he was a little leary of this weird looking guy! After we had walked around for a bit, Topher got in the spirit of the game and let me take his pic (with Tim) with the Spring Mobile Mascot.

After that, he went on an active search for the Bee. Unfortunately, everyone else found him too and it was hard to get a pic. I had to take this one from a weird angle because there were so many kids around. As you can see, Bumble is trying to pose!

So Bumble signed his hat!

I had to take a pic of the field for Topher to show everyone how big it really was. (This was his idea!) Tim is off with Zane checking out the cute girls. Or maybe they were getting ice cream, something like that!

Afterward, there was an awesome fireworks show. This was Tim and Toph's first one up close. I think they really enjoyed it. Brendon was there with his Dad, stepmom and brother and sister so he got to see it too. It was a much needed, enjoyable night out. We had a blast!

Bike Parade

Topher and I decided to participate in a bike parade for our church. We went over in the morning and decorated Topher's bike, then off on the parade. It went right past our house, so Terry was able to get some pics. Here are some of the "paraders" as they go by.
We were a little slow, so we were at the end. Here is Topher's bike from the back. I brought the handle attached to the back of his bike so I could push him up the hill very fast!

Here we are posing! We were so far behind, we had to turn around and go the way we came so we could catch up to the front of the parade. As you can see if was freaking hot already!

After we got back, all of the kids had popsicles and chilled out on the lawn. It was a fun day!

Distinguised Cub Awards

Distinguished Cub Awards are reserved for students who have excelled during the school year. At the beginning of the year, they are given a list of things they can do to earn this award. There is usually a list of 20 and they must complete at least 12. It is grade specific and the student has the ability to earn seven of them during their time at Mountain Shadows. Tim's goal is to earn all seven, and Topher decided he wanted to achieve that goal as well. I am happy to say that this is Tim's 4th DC award and Topher's first!
Here is Topher with his teacher, Miss Bennett. She is an awesome teacher and Toph really likes her (I think she really likes him a lot too, he is always getting good reports coming home!)

These are the kids in his class that received the award as well. As you can see, not many kids earn it!

Here is Tim with his teacher, Ms. Foley. Tim transferred to her class toward the end of the year, so I am sorry to say I didn't get to know her very well, but Tim says she is awesome and he did so well in her class. Thank you Ms. Foley for taking him in!

Here is Tim's class that he transferred out of. I thought I should take pics of them too since a lot of his friends were in this class. Special thanks to Mr. Zac for getting Tim started and for so graciously accepting Tim's request for a transfer. I have really enjoyed working with Mr. Zac and I hope I have mada a friend for life!

Topher performs!

The end of the year kindergarten program was today. They sang such cute songs. Topher is in front with the hoodie on (yes we are in the middle of June, but I guess when you have ZERO body fat, you get cold!) He is next to a boy with a green shirt and a boy with a white shirt. You can hardly see him!
Here is their rendition of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."

Later on, Topher decided to perform on his own. He lost his first tooth!

As you can see, he is forever the ham!

He ended up getting two dollars. What I thought was cute is that he wrote the toothfairy a thank you note in advance for the money he was going to get. If people in this world acted more like children, I think we would all get along a lot better!

News... might be scary....might be exciting... or maybe a little of both!

A. No longer a student myself (It feels so good to be graduated!)

B. No longer a full time daycare provider (mixed feelings)

C. My youngest child will be in school full time, thereby allowing me more freedom to move about (I'm getting old!)

I am reaching out to you, fair readers, to use as a resource for ideas. My responsibilities include:

Green Ribbon Week - Basically safety aspects of getting to and from school in a safe manner. (All through the month of September)

Red Ribbon Week - This is the anti drug week (Sometime during October)

Walk Your Children to School Safely Day - pretty self explanatory. (Also during October)

All of this basically happens during September and October, so with both feet, I am jumping in!

Tim gets baptized

Tim decided he wanted to get baptized. It was a long process for him, but I am really proud of him because he took the time to think about it and didn't do it "just because he was of age". Here is the cake that Pea-ma bought.
My dad baptized and confirmed him. Here they are right before. Tim is upset because I made him dress up and wear a tie. Doesn't he look handsome! (Try to picture him without that horrible look on his face!)

Here is a family photo, sorry I look tired, I was becoming blind from the flashes! Alex wasn't with us. The rockstar is on a tour of Canada right now.

Here is the whole family minus Ryan's and Jason's family who couldn't come. I am so glad that everyone turned out to support Tim. Uncle Jason called later with his congrats.

Special thanks to the missionaries for teaching Tim, and The Rex family for participating as well, that meant a lot to us. I think it really helped Tim's embarrassment factor that his bishop is also his neighbor and he is comfortable with him. Also thanks to the Primary for sending a representative so that Tim felt accepted by his peers and teachers. It was a great day!

Carnival 2009!

Mountain Shadows carnival time is here again! I can't believe it has been a year already. Luckily the weather cooperated and the kids were able to have a nice time. Here is Tim takin' on the rock climbing wall.
Here is the fearsome dinosaur obstacle course! (Tim is REALLY more thrilled than he looks!) Here is Topher inside the Dino course. By this time, Tim was off with his friends. He is getting so grown up!
It is hard to see him, but he just came down the slide underneath the Rex. He had a blast on this one! This is the big "Jaws" slide, the tallest one there. Toph is loving it!
No carnival would be complete without a romp in the batman jump. Topher was doing flips in this one, giving him mom more gray hair!!
After batman, we decided to go and play some games. Topher just won at the tic-tac-toe game. He won a twirly toy of some sort! Here is the ring toss where he won some freaky green vampire teeth!
Here is an action shot of him shooting hoops. My camera sucks (or maybe I suck, or both!) so it is a little blurry. I think I know what to ask Santa for this year! This is the ride he liked the most. It is a pirate obstacle course. Probably because it had the shortest line, the kid working it actually knew what he was doing. He must have gone on this a hundred times. He would jump down the slide and everytime I thought "This is it, we're going to the ER!" I love this carnival, it is always a blast. Unfortunately the boys trip fell on this weekend too, so Tim and Toph had to choose between the two. Maybe it will be better weather next year and they will choose the boys trip. I am sure Terry will have a relaxing weekend! I don't know what I will do with myself if they go to the boys trip and I don't have the carnival! (Oh, wait, I am sure I can find something!)
