Fact of the Week

Fact of the Week: How long do astronauts stay in quarantine? Apollo 11, 12, and 14 Astronauts from these missions were quarantined for 21 days after returning from the moon, beginning when the lunar lander's hatch closed on July 21, 1969. The quarantine was a precaution in case the astronauts had been exposed to dangerous lunar microorganisms.

Topher's VIP

It was Topher's turn for his Very Important Person day today. He got to make a poster and show some of his favorite things. It is hard to see, but he put pictures of: our swimming pool, his family, camping at the Dunes, sitting at the campfire, when he won the pumpkin carving contest, New Year's Eve 2008, and one with Gizmo when they were sleeping. His favorite letter is T, his favorite food is chile with cheese, his favorite animal is a monkey, his favorite activity is watching TV (cringe) and his favorite TV shows are Spongebob and iCarly. Then he passed out red and green rice crispy Christmas trees to all of his classmates. Good job Topher!

Topher gets climbing higher!

Topher got a climbing higher award for 1st grade. He received it for getting 100% on his spelling tests. Way to go Topher!!! As some of you know from previous posts about climbing higher awards, the first award is a pennant, then any award after that is a Mountain Shadows Cub pin. He and Tim are each working on getting a pennant with six pins.
Here is a picture of the gang that won this week.
They were so done getting pics taken by this time. I tried to make them laugh by telling them to say "cheeseballs!" It worked for some of them!

On the fifth day of Christmas my parents gave to me..........

Bren - Axe to drive the ladies wild. Tim - a shirt that says, "Be nice to me or I'll sic my ninja monkeys on you!" Topher - a sword to get bad guys with!
Terry got some Axe too. Rar, rar!!!

On the third day of Christmas my parents gave to me.......

I forgot to mention that this starts on December 13th every year so that the 12th day of Christmas falls on Christmas Eve. We have another tradition we do on that night that I have tied in with the twelve days of Christmas. I won't tell you what it is because it will spoil the surprise so stay tuned!

Naruto banks and a pack of licorice!!!
Terry got a box of Turtles. Yum!!!!!

On the second day of Christmas my parents gave to me........

A cap gun complete with working handcuffs and a key!
Same, same. Tim and Toph stowed their guns in the "agency" for later use on secret agent missions!
A whole bunch of gum for fresh breath for the ladies!
Terry got chocolate covered cashews. Yum!
