Fact of the Week

Fact of the Week: How long do astronauts stay in quarantine? Apollo 11, 12, and 14 Astronauts from these missions were quarantined for 21 days after returning from the moon, beginning when the lunar lander's hatch closed on July 21, 1969. The quarantine was a precaution in case the astronauts had been exposed to dangerous lunar microorganisms.

CCI Garden 2023

I did a garden at CCI again this year. This time, I was the only one who planted stuff. Here is a progression. (Continued after the pictures of the flowers)
Here are close ups of all of the flowers I planted.

This is box 1, the Red Box. I also added Sun Gold tomatoes next to this one
This is box 2, the Blue Box. I added Sugar Sweet tomatoes next to this box
This is box 3, the Yellow Box. I added Jet Star tomatoes next to this one.
Here are all three....
This is the lemon cucumber I planted. When I started out, it was smaller than everything else. It quickly became BIGGER. I ended up getting over 150 cucumbers off this plant.
Here are my spinach, radishes, and green leaf lettuce starting up!
Here is the first box with the kale and butter leaf too.
Here's a closer look at the spinach, radishes, and greenleaf
Here is my middle box. It had: Upper left corner - Butternut, Middle bell peppers, banana peppers, and jalepenos. Upper right corner - lemon cucumbers. Lower left - English cucumbers, Lower right - Japanese eggplant,
My peppers...
Third box had Aphrodite melon, cantaloupe, rosemary, basil, cilantro, marjoram and thyme surrounded by marigolds
The herbs....
This is the red box a couple of weeks later. Everything is growing!
This is the blue box with the butternut squash and the English cucumber

The yellow box
All three boxes in the first third of the summer
I submitted this photo to EMCOR for their contest. I don't think it went in, because I could never find it. I didn't win.....
These photos are about midsummer...

My first cucumber!
This shot is from the 2nd floor stairwell. The glass is tinted so that's why it looks dark.
This is one of my harvests. Japanese eggplant, lemon cucumber and an Aphrodite melon.
It got pretty out of control by the end. I got so much produce, it was awesome! The marjoram and the rosemary survived the winter and greened up the next year. The cilantro and basil had gone to seed, so more plants came up for those too.  Can't wait to post about that because I'm already planting this year's garden!
